Creditors Are Not Your Friends
An excerpt from Life After Bankruptcy by Seth Hanson
You’re a target. Every predatory lender knows your history. They know how you got into trouble and they know how to tempt you. Right now, and for years to come, they are lying in wait for you to come their way.
You’ve already noticed, I’m sure, a lot of “easy credit,” offers. “No credit needed.” “Bankruptcy OK.” “No credit check.” “0% interest for 6 months.” They probably look very tempting.
Don’t be fooled. Creditors are not your friends. They care about only one thing – making money off of you. In their minds, you’re their perfect customer because you have a history of paying thousands of dollars in interest. They also know that you can’t file for bankruptcy for many years to come.
Think about what life was like before you filed for bankruptcy. Remember those anxiety filled, stressful, sleepless nights. Remember the endless calls and letters. Were your creditors friendly then? Remember how much you were paying in fees, interest, and late charges.
Again, creditors are not your friends. A real friend wouldn’t hurt you like that.
Your new best friend is you – the friend that tells you to wait to purchase only what you need and what you can afford. Turn your back on all lenders. None of them will help you in the long run.
