Clark was born, raised, and currently lives in Auburn, California. He is the youngest of four children born to a well-known local doctor and Dixieland jazz musician, Dr. Charles Gehlbach. Clark was valedictorian of Placer High School in 1984, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cal Poly SLO in 1989 (Mechanical Engineering), and graduated With Honors from Hastings School of Law in 1994.
Clark worked two years as a mechanical engineer for Watkins-Johnson before attending law school, and he worked as an intern at two Intellectual Property law firms during law school. He changed gears after graduating from Hastings and worked as a Deputy District Attorney (and eventually Supervising Deputy District Attorney) for Placer County for 25 years. For approximately 15 of those years, he also taught POST (Police Officer Standards and Training) classes for law enforcement agencies. He is very proud to have had the opportunity to help victims of crime during a difficult time in their lives, and protect the community in which he was raised. He retired from criminal law in 2022 to assist his father, who was in failing health, until his passing in 2023.
Clark joined the Law Office of Seth Hanson in 2025, and is looking forward to continuing to help people navigate a stressful time in their lives.
Clark is married, and has three adult children, a daughter and identical twin sons. He is a former trustee on the Placer Union Elementary School District board, as well as a former Governor of the State Bar of California board.
